For the first time in our history, the 4th Annual Golf Classic is raising funds for the Inaugural Golden Knight Scholarship. Considering that many of us were first generation college students who struggled financially, we decided to start the scholarship as a way to alleviate those struggles. Please help spread the word to those students who could benefit from financial assistance. Anyone can enter, stress free, great tournament for novices and experienced alike. No golfing experience required, just the desire to have fun and make a difference!
In 2007, the 3rd Annual Golf Classic raised $500 that was donated to the National Capital Immigration Coalition. Thanks to the support of many, NCIC used the donation to support their work of advocating for immigrant rights.
In 2006, $1,000 was raised for the Central American Resource Center of Washington (CARECEN) and Proyecto Salud; two local non-profit organizations that provide services to the Latino community in Washington D.C. and Montgomery County, Maryland.
In 2005, the First La Unidad Latina Golf Classic 2005 raised almost $1,000 that went to CASA of Maryland and the American Red Cross Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund. Mr. Gustavo Torres, Director of CASA of Maryland, said the 2005 donation was used to support the organization’s mission of “improving the quality of life and social and economic well being of low-income Latinos and their families.”
